KookinSurf — Support
Last updated: 13 September 2026
KookinSurf is a surf logbook for Apple Watch and iPhone: sessions recorded from your wrist,
offline tide predictions, automatic spot names, your boards and your stats — kept in Apple Health
and your own iCloud, nowhere else.
Contact
For bug reports, questions, or a session that came out wrong, write to
dimafern+kookinsurf@gmail.com.
In the app, the same address is under Profile › About › Contact.
When reporting a problem, it helps to include your iPhone and Watch models, the app build
number (Profile › About), and, for a session that looks wrong, its date.
Common questions
- Do I need an Apple Watch? To record sessions, yes. Sessions from other
apps in Apple Health, manual entries and imported GPX or KookinSurf files work on the iPhone
alone.
- The app shows no sessions. Check that KookinSurf is allowed to read and
write Workouts in Settings › Apps › Health › Data Access & Devices.
- My boards are missing. Boards are stored in your iCloud. Make sure the
device is signed in to the same Apple Account and iCloud Drive is on.
- Tide looks wrong. Tides are predictions from the nearest reference
station, computed offline. At breaks far from any station the timing can be off; the
station used is shown on the session.
- How do I back up my history? Profile › Your data ›
Export all sessions writes one JSON file you can keep anywhere and import back.
